Bret Collins Integrative psychotherapist , FK8
I am an experienced therapist and counsellor registered with the UKCP. My approach is broadly-based and integrative, drawing upon a transpersonal training. I am also a qualified Relate couples counsellor and an EMDR therapist.
I work with individuals or couples, and supervise other therapists.
Integrative practitioners like myself generally try to draw together the most useful parts of other approaches. They avoid a one-size-fits-all philosophy and are more likely to respond flexibly to the needs of different clients. A recent survey of British counsellors and psychotherapists showed that there are now more integratively-trained practitioners than any other group, but that they still only amount to 1 in 5 of the total.
In general I work with clients on an open-ended basis but I also do time-limited work. For example, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy can be tailored to fit 4-6 sessions, some of which may be combined into double-length visits. So far I have usually offered EMDR sessions as an element of ongoing therapy, but the technique can lend itself to brief work.
I follow a UKCP-approved Ethical Framework and am happy to provide evidence of professional training and insurance.
Clients are often busy people with many demands on their time, so I do what I can to offer flexibility in scheduling appointments, though I believe the process needs a firm commitment to weekly sessions and, ideally, a regular diary slot.

Training and qualifications
I started counselling as a trainee at the start of 2000 and completed a Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling in 2003 which led to registration with the UKCP. I have since completed a number of other trainings, including a Relate couple-counselling qualification, and I undertake regular CPD.
I am committed to offering therapy at a reasonable price. My full 2018 session charges in Stirling for open-ended work are £40 for individuals and £50 for couples, but I will consider concessions in cases of financial difficulty.
6 Queens Road
I work in Stirling Monday to Friday mornings and afternoons, and Monday to Wednesday evenings.
