Bolanle Shonubi
Psychodynamic psychotherapistAbout Me
I have over 20 years experience in the field of Counselling and Psychotherapy. Becoming a Psychotherapist was something that I had a great interest in from a very, very early age. I wanted to listen to people, help them understand the reasons for their difficulties and ultimately give them hope that their lives and experiences going forward can change.
I am trained to work predominantly within the psychodynamic model of psychotherapy. This type of therapy focuses on revealing the unconscious content of an individual's psyche to help relieve or understand where psychic tension originates or is coming from. To bring the unconscious mind into consciousness, this helps individuals to understand their deep rooted feelings. This helps to try and resolve the problems and issues that they are experiencing. I also work integratively which means; including other models of psychotherapy and counselling in my treatment.
Our psyche can bury into our unconscious painful feelings and memories which are to difficult for the conscious mind to process. As a result of the burying of these painful memories and experiences individuals can sometimes behave in ways which they do not understand. Psychodynamic psychotherapy helps to understand these behaviours and make significant changes in these behaviours.
Individuals who are genuinely interested in exploring themselves and are looking for self knowledge as to why they behave the way they do as well as symptom relief will benefit most from this type of therapy.
This type of therapy will also be of benefit to individuals who seem to “have it all” but still feel “empty” or troubled inside.
I have provided psychotherapy for individuals who have experienced deep trauma from incidents which have been documented in the media and National News Outlets. My experience is extensive and I intend to help you with the difficulties or issues that you are experiencing.
