Andrew Samuels is a psychotherapist who trained as a Jungian analyst, qualifying in 1977. He has been Chair of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy from 2009 to 2012 and was co-founder of Psychotherapists and Counsellors for Social Responsibility. As a therapist, I want to get to know you really well and find out what you are looking for. We will go at your pace and I won't force my ideas on you. From time to time, I will ask you how you think we are doing. I can be practical and down to earth but when it feels right we will explore deeper/higher things.
Some of the themes i work with include relationships and sexuality, work and study issues, anxiety, depression, low self-confidence, psychosomatic conditions.
I am experienced in working with people who are members of sexual and/or ethnic minorities.
I also work as a supervisor and welcome enquiries about this.
I am a university professor and much-published author and interested in hearing from people who have general questions about psychotherapy of a more theoretical or intellectual nature.
