Heather Elston is an online hypnotherapist and coach

What attracted you to become a therapist?

Being able to make a difference in peoples lives and help them.

Where did you train?

Life Practice UK Ltd

Can you tell us about the type of therapy you practise?

I practise hypnotherapy and life coaching; hypnotherapy can help with so many issues and I have great success with doing sessions online. Coaching is a brilliant and effective way to help people when they are stuck in a rut or need to reach a specific goal.

How does hypnotherapy help with symptoms of anxiety?

I help a lot of people with anxiety and stress - also depression, rates of which have increased since the start of the pandemic.

What sort of people do you usually see?

I see all age groups, with all types of issues.

What do you like about being a therapist?

Helping people and improving their lives.

What is less pleasant?

Trauma issues

How long you've been with welldoing.org and what you think of us?

I've just been with welldoing.org for two months; I like the layout and hope to gain more clients through it.

What you do for your own mental health?

Taking walks, doing something I enjoy, and keeping a mood diary.

What do you wish people knew about therapy?

With hypnotherapy, some people worry about getting stuck in a trance or not being in control, but I like to reassure them that you can't get stuck in hypnosis and you can't do anything you don't want to.
