About Me

When we feel stuck and alone with difficulties that we face, therapy can help to shine a light on the internal resources and wisdom that we have to support us to navigate challenges, separate from unhelpful coping mechanisms & critical thoughts and to discover self-compassion, self-awareness and self-acceptance.

Welcome, I’m Sophia

I'm a Creative Psychotherapist and EMDR therapist experienced in working with adults and children with diverse stories, experiences and challenges. I hold a compassionate space; using individuals' natural creativity to connect with their feelings, blocks and resources.

Together, we’ll explore how your experiences show up in your relationships, manifest in your body & nervous-system and shape your self-beliefs, to foster greater self-awareness and freedom from feeling stuck, distressed or hopeless.

I'm experienced in supporting individuals to process the bad stuff that happened (trauma, abuse, illness, bullying, loss), the good stuff that didn’t (feeling seen, soothed, safe and secure) and their impact including: low self-esteem, identity struggles, difficulty regulating emotions, relationship issues, eating disorders, depression, anxiety, stress, chronic pain, dissociation.

I'm trained in EMDR, evidenced-based therapy for trauma and PTSD. Sophia has specialist training in Attachment-Informed EMDR that addresses the impact of our early experiences. My practice draws on neuroscience, parts-work, somatics, compassionate inquiry and psychodynamic psychotherapy.

Central to my practice is the belief that understanding and finding compassion for all parts of ourselves is key to alleviating distress and living as our authentic selves.

Research shows us that the relationship between therapist and client is key to a successful therapeutic process. I offer a free 20 minute discussion to connect with new clients, this offers the opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have and for both of us to get a sense of whether it's a good fit for therapeutic work.

Sessions are £60 for 50 minutes, £75 for 75 minutes, 90 minutes, £90.

Training and qualifications

I have a Masters in Dramatherapy (Merit) from Roehampton University (2014), where I undertook rigorous training in psychological development, therapeutic interventions, application of creative tools to the therapeutic process and clinical work with both adults and children.

I am a trained EMDR Therapist (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy), through the EMDR Academy training, which is accredited by EMDR Europe. I have specialist training in Attachment Informed EMDR Therapy, which addresses the impact of our early experiences

I've over ten years of experience working as a therapist in diverse settings including; NHS specialist Eating Disorders Service, NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS), schools & higher education.

I'm registered with the Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC), BADth (British Association of Dramatherapists) and EMDR Association UK.

I'm committed to life-long learning both in my own practice of self-inquiry and my professional practice, I recently completed a year-long course in Compassionate Inquiry with Gabor Mate.
