About Me

I am currently only seeing clients via Skype or Facetime. Stay safe everyone!

I am a fully qualified counsellor and registered member of the British Association for Psychotherapy and Counselling (BACP). I trained in humanistic counselling at the renowned  Gestalt Centre  in London and prior to this worked for over 25 years as a campaigner for environmental, animal welfare and human rights organisations in the UK and also internationally.

Gestalt counselling focuses on seeing the client as a whole person, not just the issues they are presenting with. The relationship between counsellor and client is also extremely important, as is the building of trust and a strong therapeutic bond. I guarantee both confidentiality and a safe space for you to explore whatever you are concerned about.

My approach is non-hierarchical and non-judgemental. Ultimately you are the expert on you, but my aim is for us to work together to explore your present feelings and how the past and old wounds may be impacting on you now. The type of therapy I practice is very much a dialogue between us; I am not a passive listener but instead will offer suggestions and sometimes challenge your beliefs where I feel this would be helpful to you.

You may decide to seek out counselling because of a specific problem, or because something just doesn't feel right. Together we can identify patterns of behaviour that may be unhelpful to you so that you understand yourself more, have greater self-awareness and are better equipped to deal with relationships, work and life.  Often people find that the very act of seeking out and initiating counselling can help restore a sense of being in control.

I offer both short term and long term therapy and am experienced at working with a range of issues including:

  • Anxiety

  • Depression

  • Panic attacks

  • Childhood sexual abuse

  • Emotional abuse

  • Sexual assault/Rape

  • Post Traumatic Stress (PTSD)

  • Relationships

  • Bereavement (human and animal)

  • Bodyimage/Eating disorders

  • Sexuality & Gender

  • Work stress/Redundancy

  • ADHD

  • Adolescence

  • Menopause

  • Fertility & Miscarriage.

A particular area of interest for me is Pet Bereavement as I have personal experience and understanding of the deep sadness felt when a pet dies. I offer Pet Bereavement Counselling to support those suffering the loss of a beloved animal.

For people who have loved and lost a pet, the grief can be every bit as strong and raw as that felt over the death of a human loved one. I believe that when we take an animal into our homes they become part of our family, and we mourn them in exactly the same way.

Often this grief can go unacknowledged by those around us who do not understand or recognise the validity of our pain. But I believe it is never 'just an animal'.

Grief around an animal dying can also sometimes be complicated by the fact that we may have had to euthanise our companion, which can lead to irrational feelings of guilt that we are somehow responsible for their death.

I offer face to face Pet Bereavement Counselling and also via Skype, and because I feel strongly that the issue needs to be recognised as a legitimate loss and I want to help those in need of support so that they do not have to suffer alone, I offer Pet Bereavement Counselling at a reduced rate of £40 per session.

I have a very well behaved whippet who has a bed in my therapy room - many of my clients find it very comforting to have a dog present, but of course he can go into another room if you’d prefer.

My therapy room is located less than 5 minutes walk from Fulham Broadway tube station (district line) and 10 minutes walk from Parsons Green or West Brompton tube and rail station (district line and London Overground).

I am very close to bus routes 14, 414, 424, 11, 211, 295, 28 and 391.

I also offer therapy via Skype for people who are unable to travel to see me.
