Integrative therapistAbout Me
My aim is to provide more BAME communities with access to contemporary, culturally sensitive and inclusive longer term counselling and psychotherapy. I welcome those who identify as LGBTQIA+ and/or non binary as well as those not from BAME communities.
Historically, access to therapy and mental health support services for BAME communities in Britain have been and continues to be disproportionate when compared to the rest of society. This is an inequality that I would like to address.
Where there is support available, there can be a lack of awareness and sensitivity to the different nuances and traditions of different cultures, which can leave the person seeking help feeling unheard or misunderstood. Or often, treatment is heavily western influenced and does not resonate with the specific cultural backgrounds of the individuals seeking help.
With me, you will find that I take into consideration your gender, race, cultural background, religion and/or sexuality as it is in an important part of who you are and your story. Together we can look at how can you can heal, thrive and live your life in way that is authentic to you with an awareness of the things that are preventing you from doing so.
