Psychodynamic psychotherapistAbout Me
I am a fully qualified and experienced psychotherapist, an accredited member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and the Foundation for Psychotherapy & Counselling (FPC). I see adults in time-limited and open-ended arrangements tailored to your individual therapeutic needs.
My approach is to provide a safe, calm, confidential and non-judgemental space for you to talk.
As a psychodynamic psychotherapist I am interested in exploring with you the underlying reasons for any emotional difficulties you are experiencing in the present which may relate to the past. In response to difficult and painful early life experience we can unconsciously develop 'coping mechanisms' unhelpful and destructive ways of being and relating which we carry with us into adulthood and which prevent us from becoming our authentic fulfilled self.
By creating a space in therapy to explore and understand this we can develop the capacity to relate to our personal narrative, our experiences, stories, memories, feelings, beliefs and relationships in a more reflective yet active way, leading to greater awareness, self-acceptance and the potential for transformation.
I usually suggest meeting for a 1 hour without obligation initial consultation where you can tell me about yourself and why you are seeking therapy and also get a sense as to whether you would feel comfortable working with me going forward.
If you decided you wanted to proceed, we would find a mutually convenient time in which to meet weekly for a therapy session lasting 50 minutes.
