About Me

Beginning therapy can be one of the most positive steps we ever take and finding a therapist we feel comfortable working with is an essential part of that process.

I have many years experience working with people around a wide range of presenting issues including anxiety, feeling sad/depression, relationship/family difficulties,  trauma, low self esteem,  identity.

I have experience of working with men and women across a broad range of age, sexual orientation, ethnicity & culture background.

As a therapist, my starting point is a belief that we all have the contents to become our fulfilled selves.

As a psychodynamic therapist, I also believe that in response to difficult, often traumatic early life experience we can set up unhelpful patterns of being and relating which we continue into adult life, often unconsciously.

By creating a space in therapy to explore and understand this, we can develop the capacity to relate to our personal experiences, memories, feelings, beliefs and relationships in a more reflective yet active way, leading to greater awareness, self-acceptance and the possibility of positive and lasting change.

As a beginning, I usually suggest meeting for an initial consultation where you can tell me about yourself, why you are seeking therapy and get a sense as to whether you would feel comfortable working with me going forward.

If you decide you would like to start therapy with me, we would agree an arrangement based around your individual therapeutic needs.I usually suggest an open-ended therapy arrangement which allows time for issues to surface and be worked on in-depth.

Time limited arrangements are usually offered over 12 sessions and are helpful if you wish to work with a specific focus.

Therapy sessions take place at an agreed mutually convenient time every week lasting for 50 minutes .
