About Me

I have been working as a psychotherapist for 24 years, following a successful career in the commercial world.   I became a therapist because I wanted to find more meaning in life, having spent many years helping commercial companies with their marketing and advertising.

I also was highly motivated because my mother and sister were 'sectioned' (held in Psychiatric institutions against their will) at various points in their lives, yet recovered, and I wanted to understand more about what makes people tick.

I spent many years in therapy myself, experimenting until I found the type of therapy that worked for me.

After I trained, I set up and became CEO of www.talkforhealth.co.uk on the premise that therapeutic talk should be freely available by all, for as long as they wished. I realised that I had had the privilege of being able to afford therapy long term, whereas most people get 6 sessions of CBT on the NHS, if they get anything at all.

I am proud to have won various awards on the basis of Talk for Health and my own individual work, most recently the 2024 welldoing.org Wellbeing Inspiration Award.

My training was long and involved many different types of therapy and topics, including Gestalt Therapy, Art Therapy, Sexuality,  and dreamwork.  I tailor my way of working according to each individual's needs and think it is really important for you not just to understand the roots of your current problems, but also to find a way forward.

I have often worked with people stumbling on unexpected crises in their lives and have worked with a very wide variety of professional and creative clients of all ages, mostly above 25.

I have also had anomalous and spiritual experiences so while I wouldn't claim to be an expert in this area, I am familiar with this kind of thing.
