Monica Mason
Psychodynamic psychotherapistAbout Me
Do you feel like things are getting on top of you? Perhaps you feel overwhelmed and anxious over something which is happening right now, or maybe you are dealing with difficult issues from your past which still affects your relationships and general quality of life. We all know how it feels being stuck in a rut, wanting to change but finding it difficult and wonder why.
My approach aims to provide clarity and knowledge as to why we feel and behave the way we do. By exploring thoughts and feelings from both past and present, links can be made to increase your understanding of a particular issue and thereby easing the way to make changes. With increased self knowledge and insight it also makes it easier to form close and authentic relationships with others which can help your self esteem and combat loneliness.
I have been a qualified Psychodynamic Psychotherapist since 2002. As a BACP Accredited member I am committed to providing therapy in a supportive, safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment. I work with individuals on an open-ended basis or for a shorter time limited period with an aim of enabling you to live your life more fully.
Therapy can be helpful when dealing with low self-esteem, general anxiety, social anxiety, depression or major life changes such as bereavement, divorce, starting a family, moving place or country, finishing school and starting university etc. I can help you dealing with the loss of your old life as well as finding a way forward. I will not tell you what to do but will give support and guidance to enable you making your own choices.
I also have a long experience from working with cultural issues connected to moving countries. To move country can be both exciting and daunting at the same time. Sometimes people find that issues they hoped to leave behind are re-emerging or they feel a sense of loss from not having family and friends near.
