About Me

I am an HCPC registered counselling psychologist.  My primary training is in CBT and Person-Centred Therapy, but I also use techniques from other methods like DBT, Mindfulness-CBT, Schema Therapy, and Trauma-Focused Therapy. I have worked with many people dealing with challenges like depression, anxiety, stress, and relationship issues.  I am interested in the growing field of financial therapy and am keen to help clients who would like to explore the interplay between the financial aspects of their life and their psychological health.  I believe in a flexible and holistic approach.  Every person is different, so I adjust my techniques to each client's needs. A big part of my work is teaming up with the person I am helping after conducting a thorough assessment. We work together to determine what is happening and set goals.

For me, a strong, trust-based relationship with my clients is key. I want everyone I work with to feel safe and understood. I endeavour to be as non-judgmental as possible and supportive, and I genuinely care.  On the research side, I am interested in topics like long-term health issues, therapy outdoors, and the experiences of neurodivergent psychologists.  Currently, I offer sessions online and in person from my home in Jackton, Scotland.

I have come to psychology as a second career, combining this with occasionally still providing consultancy in finance as an actuary.  I have a degree in Mathematics from Oxford University and am an experienced and fully qualified actuary and accountant.  I have 20 years of experience mentoring and coaching finance professionals throughout my career and volunteer work coaching young adults in higher education.  I have worked as a psychotherapist in charity settings and a large private practice.  I have also experienced living and working overseas for 10 years and the need to adjust accordingly.  I have encountered people from all walks of life and deeply respect anyone who wants to work on themselves and explore their life experiences through therapy.

Please note I use WhatsApp, FaceTime, and MSTeams for online work.
