Why choose counselling?
Have you experienced a loss in your life? Maybe you've had a bereavement, due to Covid-19 or another cause. Or perhaps you've lost a job, pet, relationship, or sense of identity. Loss can bring many difficult and confusing emotions. Talking to someone outside your family or friendship group can really help. However, It can be difficult opening up to someone new, and it's important you find the right person for you. Someone you can trust, who will try hard to understand what you are going through.
A bit about me
I'm Laura, of Creative Souls Counselling. Supporting clients in a hospice setting has equipped me to work with loss in all its forms, but I can also help with a range of other issues. I work from a person-centred perspective, aiming to foster a positive and trusting therapeutic relationship where I can journey alongside you as you explore your thoughts and feelings. During our sessions, you will find a safe, confidential space where you will be warmly accepted without judgement. Rather than offering advice, I listen and help you arrive at your own understanding needed to move forwards.
What do counselling sessions involve?
I offer a free 15 minute phone consultation, where we can discuss why you are seeking therapy, and whether I am the right counsellor to support you. If we agree to work together, we will meet for an initial session, where I will do an informal assessment, and we will go through the counselling agreement together. After this, sessions are on a regular basis (usually weekly). Each session lasts 50 minutes.
What is online counselling?
During this time, I am offering telephone, or video counselling via Zoom. Perhaps you have reservations about the effectiveness of remote counselling? You might be surprised to learn that there is evidence to prove that remote counselling can be highly effective, and comes with its own benefits, such as the flexibility to work in your own environment, at a time that suits you.
Creative counselling sessions
Does the idea of sitting and talking to a stranger feel daunting? Are you somebody who likes to express themselves through creative methods such as drawing or painting? I am now offering creative counselling sessions. As with conventional counselling, we will begin with an assessment session, but during following sessions, you will be given opportunity to use different art materials to explore your emotions. Although the sessions are client-led, I can give a prompt, or suggest a starting point, and will guide you through with observations and reflections. This is not about producing a piece of art- it's about what happens in the process. As such, you do not need to be a "good" artist, or have any experience working with the art materials.
OnlineI also provide my services online.
