Psychodynamic counsellorAbout Me
Are you struggling to manage everyday demands of life? Stress, high expectations, grief, and feelings of not being 'good enough' can lead to anxiety and depression, making it difficult to cope. As an experienced counsellor, I specialise in solution-focused counselling to help you regain control and feel better.
Many people benefit from working with a counsellor when they feel overwhelmed by difficult relationships, stressful home environments, or challenging issues at work, school, college or university. When you are feeling down or overwhelmed, it's hard to think clearly and maintain perspective. That's where I come in. I provide the support you need to start making positive changes, one step at a time.
Together, we will explore what's happening in your life and how it may be linked to past experiences. This process reduces self-blame and increases self-awareness, giving you more choices for positive change. By improving self-care practices such as diet, sleep, and exercise, you'll feel calmer and more relaxed.
Practising positivity can transform negative thinking, boost confidence, and build resilience. My clients often report feeling happier and more in control after implementing simple boundaries that enhance their wellbeing. Change can be challenging, but taking small, manageable steps will build your confidence and help you achieve the positive outcomes you desire, including a happier, healthier, and more content life.

Training and qualifications
I have an Advanced Diploma in Psychodynamic counselling and am a Registered Member of the BACP. I also have a degree in psychology. I have many year's experience working with clients. I have qualifications in Parent and student Support within schools.
I worked for many years supporting clients within a leading charity, who had suffered abuse (sexual, emotional, psychological, physical, financial), both as a counsellor and group facilitator. I have worked in schools, supporting both students and parents who were experiencing difficulties. For example, helping promote healthy relationships (both at school and at home) and raising self-esteem and confidence to increase school attendance. I also ran workshops, including raising awareness of anti- bullying.
I now work with a lot of clients offering Solution-focused Therapy. This means working collaboratively with the client to understand what their goal is, and using their strengths to devise strategies to find a solution for their problem. This is usually brief therapy as it focuses on finding a solution to a particular problem. This can be very effective and does not dwell on past problems, and can also be more affordable as positive results can be achieved in a few sessions.
I do also work longer-term with clients who wish to understand and process issues and difficulties being experienced in adulthood that have arisen from adverse childhood experiences.
I am experienced working with clients who are also managing addictions, as this is a common coping strategy in abusive relationships.
I attend regular training to keep up to date with my skills and knowledge, including mental health, addictions, and suicide awareness. I also attend regular supervision which allows me to work both effectively, safely and healthily.
