Dr John Lambie
Cognitive behaviour psychotherapistAbout Me
Hello. I'm Dr John Lambie. My aim is to help ease the suffering caused by difficult emotions. I use evidence-based methods to help people cope with negative feelings. It is hard being human. Our brains and also our society can easily trigger us to anxiety and depression. I believe that problems such as anxiety, depression, worry, OCD, and panic are normal aspects of human experience that anyone can slip into, but luckily there are techniques that can help you get out of these painful states.
I am a trained Cognitive Behaviour Therapist, and have experience in the last 10 years as a psychotherapist, as well as 30 years experience as a research psychologist, researching emotions and how to cope with them. I have a PhD in psychology from Cambridge University, and have published many papers on emotion and emotional coping.
As well as CBT, I also incorporate some aspects of Compassion-Focused Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and Metacognitive Therapy.
The kind of challenges and issues that I often hear about, and that I can help with include:
# I can’t stop worrying
# I feel anxious all the time
# I am avoiding things
# I feel low
# I feel nothing is ever good enough
# I compare myself negatively against other people all the time
# I have complusions I can’t stop
# I have chronic pain that gets me down
# I have low self-esteem
# I have social anxiety
# I’m depressed
If issues like these strike a chord with you then please contact me and I will try to help.
