About me
Are you unhappy with aspects of your life? Making the decision to attend counselling can be difficult and takes courage but the rewards can be immense. I believe in building trust with my clients where feelings can be considered and change can be explored in a safe and understanding environment. I have gained my experience in the majority of the Essex mental health, drug and alcohol services and have also worked in residential treatment. I am the Chairman and a Trustee of the Essex Recovery Foundation, which is currently the largest addictions and mental health service in Essex. I hold a degree in addiction therapy from Bath University, a master's degree in psychology from Northumbria University and I am part of the twelve step fellowships. I use Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Person Centred Therapy, Family Therapy and Interpersonal Group Therapy, amongst other techniques. I am also Reiki Master and a qualified Yoga instructor and I’m able to offer you holistic therapy if needed. I have my own personal experiences of mental health and addiction in the past. This helps me to understand clients’ experiences and to select the most appropriate techniques. In my practice, I treat a range of disorders including but not limited to anxiety, depression, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), borderline personality disorder (BPD), bipolar, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and addiction. Within the latter, I have experience counselling clients with substance addictions (food, alcohol, drugs) and also process addictions (such as sex, porn, shopping, gambling, social media and internet surfing). I am eager to study further and develop my skills to better help my clients. I have regular supervisions and attend various professional training courses to keep my knowledge and skills up to date and in constant development. During these difficult times, the need for counselling is more crucial than ever. As such, I’ve undertaken additional training to support clients during and beyond Covid-19. I offer online and telephone counselling, giving you the same experience as if we were meeting face to face. There are a few extra things to consider but we can discuss these during your first session. The first session is an opportunity for you to discuss your requirements with me and for you to check that I'm the right person to help you. It will be up to you how many sessions you would like to have and this is something we can explore during your first meeting (as well as the frequency of your sessions).
