About Me

Hi, I am Dr Jo Rosenberg. I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist (CPsychol) and member of the British Psychological Society (BPS). I am registered as both a Counselling and Occupational Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

I have worked in the field of psychology for a number of years. Most recently I have worked at Barnet CAMHS with children, adolescents and their families. My experience also includes working in the mental health sector within the NHS together with that of schools and organisations.

I completed my doctoral training in counselling psychology at City University, London. My thesis focused on exploring mothers' experiences of autism and anxiety within the family. During my training, I gained experience in working in general adult mental health at a GP-run counselling service, at an addiction clinic, and at CAMHS where I worked with children, adolescents and their families.

Prior to my doctoral training, I worked as an HR manager at ITN for several years and provided coaching and training to individuals both within ITN and other organisations.

My Approach

As a counselling psychologist, I draw upon the use of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), psychodynamic and person-centred therapeutic approaches. Working together, I believe that for therapy to be successful, you need to take an active role in engaging and participating in the process. For me, it is not about providing a “quick fix”, but about working together to further our understanding of what is going on for you, gaining insight into how you might perceive the problem and what might be maintaining the issue. My work is tailored to suit your needs and together we would try strategies that may be most effective and helpful for you.

Therapy provides a different opportunity to that of talking to a close friend, it enables you to open yourself up and truly explore the issues that may be getting in the way of you coping on a day to day basis, or from achieving your longer term goals.

What I can help with

I offer therapy to those who may be experiencing emotional difficulties and who need some time and space to work through these challenges in order to find a way forward. I work with parents, families, adolescents, children and young adults with a range of issues including low mood/ depression, anxiety, OCD, family problems, relationship issues, work related problems, families with autism and ADHD, and stress.

I am a registered provider with AXA-PPP, Vitality and Aviva healthcare and run my private practice from Terapia Consulting Rooms, East Finchley.
