Cognitive behaviour psychotherapistAbout Me
I'm a Psychodynamic CBT therapist. I trained at the Tavistock Clinic, Institute of Psychiatry and The Anna Freud Centre. I work therapeutically with children, young people, their families and parents/carers using a number of approaches to engage and support. So, if you are struggling with friendships, emotional understanding, social situations, anger or low mood, then together we can find ways to help you understand and develop skills to manage this. The CBT approach I use is (defined by NICE (National Institute for Clinical Excellence) really helpful if impacting greatly on the Social, Emotional, Academic and Behavioural aspects of your school and home life.
I have worked with lots of young people, for over 15 years, who have struggled with Bereavement, Social and Emotional Communication, and symptoms of Depression and Anxiety such as Social Anxiety, Phobias and Panic.
I also work with adults and my aim is to enable those I work with find the tools within themselves to tackle difficult emotional situations. You will want things to change and need support to enable this to happen.
I work collaboratively, meaning we will make decisions together about the best way forward in therapy. We will explore the psychology behind your symptoms and figure out your thoughts, feelings and how you behave. After our sessions I will provide you with the tools to help you practice what has been discussed.
Usually, we would work together for 6 sessions and then review how things are going. At our review we would work together to plan for either: our continuing therapy; or, an approach that will support you to keep going on your own.
