I trained as a couples therapist nearly 20 years ago with London Marriage Guidance and subsequently worked for LMG up to and beyond the point they were taken over by the Tavistock. I currently work with couples and individuals in private practice in Herne Hill/ Loughborough Junction. 

My training was psychodynamic; looking at how upbringing and past experience can affect our behaviour in the here and the now. Knowing the roots of an unhelpful tendency, may help to change it through an increased awareness of what triggers it and why. It gives a 'thinking space' where choice can overcome a more automatic defensive response. I use this approach and others I have developed from a variety of courses undertaken and a lot of experience from working with clients.

I hold an assessment session initially to look with you at the issues and for us to discuss what you are hoping for. If we choose to continue, we meet once weekly for as long as it seems useful. There is no set number of sessions.

For the last 11 years I have worked full time as a psychotherapist and until recently as licensed Relate Counsellor.

I work with adults and teenagers, couples and individuals.
