Helen Hadden
Psychodynamic psychotherapistAbout Me
Hello and welcome; thank you for taking a look at my profile. I have worked in different mental health settings for nearly twenty years as a volunteer, mental health nurse, and psychotherapist. I currently work within the NHS and in private practice.
I use different approaches tailored to individual clients. In the simplest terms, we work together to explore the question, 'Where is the ouch?'. What draws you to therapy now, what distress or discomfort are you experiencing, and what would you like to change or gain from therapy? We will examine your relationship with yourself and others and how you experience life. I can offer longer and shorter-term psychotherapy treatments or use both the approaches below as part of an agreed treatment plan with clients:
- Psychodynamic psychotherapy: sessions occur weekly, at the same time and day, and last 50 minutes. We use the unconscious and conscious processes of our mind to understand our experiences better. Treatment is open-ended in terms of duration.
, - Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, scientifically proven psychotherapy to help people recover from traumatic events in their lives which have led to discomfort or suffering. EMDR therapy is recognised by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). The average course of treatment is between 6 to 12 sessions of 90 minutes duration.
