Farina Kavanagh
Person-centred/humanistic counsellorAbout Me
Hello, my name is Fee. I’ve been a qualified Counsellor for the past 18 years and registered with the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP). My counselling is open ended which means there is no time limit involved in our sessions together. I offer a safe and warm environment so you can feel comfortable, as well as ensuring confidentiality in all our sessions for you to speak freely.
My specialism is Dual Diagnosis which involves mental health and addiction, although due to my many years of experience I have also offered services with cases such as trauma, bereavement, criminal justice, anxiety and depression. My approach can involve Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Positive Behaviour Support, Stress/Anxiety Awareness and Trauma Informed Care. I am person centred, which means I use a range of techniques that will be tailored to you personally, whilst on your journey with therapy.
I have experience in working with all age groups from 18+. I understand many experiences and emotions can be difficult, so I aim to help you process them as well as support you in understanding and managing them in a positive way.
Overall, my experience has involved:
- Trauma (Childhood/Adult)
- Addiction/Substance misuse
- Dual Diagnosis (Mental Health/Addiction)
- Bereavement – experiences of loss (job/family members/relationships)
- Abuse
- Anxiety/Stress
- Depression
