Cognitive behaviour psychotherapistAbout Me
I am a Cognitive Behavioural Therapist based in Prestwich, North Manchester. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that looks at the connections between how you think, behave and feel. Together we will identify any unhelpful thinking and behaviour patterns and we will learn how to use more useful strategies for coping with difficulties in your life.
My practice is underpinned by the person-centred values of humanistic therapy. This means that I will demonstrate empathy, genuineness and a non-judgmental attitude in my work. I use theory and interventions from Compassion Focussed Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy which combine mindfulness, compassion and acceptance with the more traditional ideas of CBT.
My background is in social care and I worked for many years as a Support Worker and then as a Social Worker with adults with learning disabilities and autism, older adults and with women fleeing domestic violence. More recently I worked as a CBT therapist in a community Pain Management team, providing CBT support for patients living with chronic pain.
