Emma Maree
Person-centred/humanistic counsellorAbout Me
As a humanistic Counsellor I see everyone as unique. I offer a warm, confidential and non-judgemental space for people to explore their feelings. I believe that each person is unique in their experiences, with their own story to tell. Together we can explore what is on your mind, judgement-free and with compassion and discover new ways of living and coping. I have a BA (Hons) degree in Humanistic counselling, and I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). This means I follow a strict code of ethics to ensure I am always working in your best interests.
My approach is person-centred and I also integrate techniques from various therapeutic modalities, tailored to meet each person's unique needs and experiences. Being a person-centred counsellor means that you are in the driver’s seat. I will listen deeply and support you as you uncover your own insights and strengths. I bring a humanistic approach to counselling that emphasises empathy, authenticity, and respect. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where you can explore your emotions, uncover your inner strengths and help you navigate life's challenges.
I have experience working with individuals facing a wide range of issues, including, anxiety, loss, bereavement, depression, relationship difficulties, and self-esteem challenges.
How Counselling can help.
Life can be full of challenges, and it's perfectly natural to seek support when things get tough. People come to counselling for many reasons. For some a loss or trauma may have made coping difficult. Others may feel lonely, depressed or anxious. Some may experience feelings of low self-worth or hopelessness, and sometimes we just don’t know what is wrong. In our sessions, you will find a space where you are truly heard and accepted without judgement.
If you are open to it, I may offer you some creative therapy options in our sessions. We might use things like sand trays, art materials which sometimes help to express feelings that are hard to put into words. Don’t worry - it is not about being ‘good’ at art. It is just another way to explore your thoughts and feelings. This is always your choice and there is no pressure to use them if you prefer just to talk. This would be your space to explore and express yourself openly.
I offer online/telephone and in-person sessions depending on your requirements. I work from a private location, about 15 minutes from Horsham in West Sussex. Public transportation and free on-street parking is available.
What to expect in your first session.
I offer a free initial consultation of 30 minutes over Zoom to discuss your specific needs and answer any questions you may have. Then if you feel we are a good fit, we can have a first session. You can decide if we work together online via Zoom or in-person. Our first session is where we will discuss your needs, expectations, and how we can work together to achieve your goals, in greater depth.
I believe that you are the expert on your own life. I am here to support you as you find your own path forward, making choices that feel right for you.
Seeking support is a brave step towards growth and self care. No issue is too big or too small, if it matters to you, it matters in our sessions.
