Interpersonal psychotherapistAbout Me
My specialist areas are working with depression and trauma, of which I am trained in relevant evidence-based models- Interpersonal Psychotherapy (IPT) and Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR). These are both acknowledged within NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) Guidelines. I receive specific monthly supervision for these two models, in order for me to ensure I continue to develop my skills, specialise further and work closely to model fidelity. I therefore offer treatment approaches in which I hold speciality and competency rather than working too broadly across models and presentations.
I have completed therapeutic training across a number of other modalities. These include behavioural therapy , systemic practice (including work with whole families and parents), solution focused and narrative therapy. Whilst I do not offer these therapies as a standalone treatment, I am able to incorporate them and use them to compliment both models.
Regardless of the therapeutic intervention and modality, I maintain an emphasis on collaborative working (as we are the experts in our own story), warmth and a non-judgemental stance throughout my practice. I have years of experience working for the NHS, within a mental health setting, alongside delivering therapy overseas to South East Asian communities.
