About Me

Hello

My name is Denise and I am a BACP accredited counsellor.  I’m available to work online to enable you to access counselling from your preferred location.  This way of working also enables me to keep my costs as low as possible.  I work with adults and can offer short, medium or longer term therapy.

Our world is currently an uncertain and challenging place with lots that may feel out of our control.  You may be experiencing personal struggles for the first time, or the current pandemic may have reignited previous issues that you have been managing.  If you would like a confidential, non-judgemental and warm place to explore whatever may be troubling you then talking to a counsellor might be something to consider.  Whatever your reason for seeking therapy, you do not have to be alone with your experiences.

I’m a Gestalt therapist which means you are the centre of our work; you drive our agenda. I work with you as a whole person, encouraging a balance between body and mind (your feelings and your thoughts for example) and my focus tends to be on your present life and challenges rather than delving into past experiences, although these can be explored if that is that useful to you.

I firmly believe that the most healing aspect of counselling is the relationship that is established between the client and their counsellor.  For me, this is more important that the ‘type’ of counselling that the counsellor may be offering.  Because of this I think it’s vital to take your time to find the ‘right’ person with whom you can share your story and experiences with.

I’m very interested in how the process of change affects individuals and organisations and I have experience of working in large private sector organisations (as a management consultant) as well as in the mental health sector.  I have also regularly engaged in my own personal therapy so I do really understand what it is like to sit in the client chair.
