Carolina Cameira
Cognitive behaviour psychotherapistAbout Me
Hello I am Carolina, a CBT, NET and IPT Psychotherapist based in London. I have over 10 years of clinical experience working for the NHS.
I can understand that looking for therapy can be overwhelming and that it may be difficult to know where to start. My main priority is to create a comfortable space where you can feel supported and listened to, as it may be challenging to take the first steps when looking for therapy. However, having the courage to acknowledge personal difficulties and asking for help is the very important first step!
Today's world can be demanding and fast paced with very little time to take care of ourselves. Therapy provides that opportunity to slow down and prioritize our self-care, and as a psychotherapist I feel privileged to be able to help others to explore and discover ways to live more fulfilled lives.
Our sessions will be a non-judgemental safe space where I will respect your own pace and will support you to share your difficulties when you feel comfortable to do so.
Our work together will include the opportunity to reflect and to be heard, processing difficult emotions, but also practical exercises to empower you to create positive change in your life and break old habits.
My approach is flexible, we will be working as a team, where we will agree together on a personalized treatment plan specifically tailored to your needs.
Hopefully, by the end of our sessions you will have a ‘toolkit’ with a range of techniques and exercises that you would be able to use whenever life brings you challenges.
Therapies I offer:
CBT – Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
A psychotherapy with a large amount of evidence-based research on its efficacy and effectiveness for the treatment of anxiety disorders and depression. As a CBT psychotherapist I can help you develop coping strategies to manage negative thoughts, work related stress, and unhelpful behaviours and process traumatic events.
IPT – Interpersonal Therapy
A form of counselling which is focused on improving interpersonal relationships, resolving conflicts, support managing grief and adjusting to difficulty life transitions
NET – Narrative Exposure Therapy
It is an evidence based clinical intervention designed to support overcoming complex trauma and Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
I also use elements of Mindfulness and Compassionate Focused Therapy as I feel that kindness and compassion resonates with my therapeutic approach and that these clinical interventions are highly effective in reducing self-criticism.
I always endeavor to train in the most up to date effective clinical interventions and attend clinical supervision regularly.
- I can also provide therapy in Portuguese and Spanish.
I can offer a free 15min telephone consultation, do contact me with any questions you might have, and good luck on this often daunting, but hopefully rewarding therapy journey!
