Anne Robertson
Person-centred/humanistic counsellorAbout Me
I originally trained as a musician at the RSAMD (now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) and work as a performer and teacher.
I also have an interest in foreign languages and studied for an MA Joint Honours in French and German.
I became interested in counselling training after having received positive benefit from it myself and took a skills course for one year with COSCA to see if it would suit me to train professionally. I then went on to study for a post-graduate diploma at Strathclyde University in Glasgow. I have a special interest in helping clients to unlock their true potential, particularly in academic study and with using their creativity - sometimes in the performing arts. I have worked with trauma and PTSD, particularly with regard to sexual abuse, anxiety, depression, self-harming, suicidal thoughts, anger management, sexual abuse, bereavement, carers' issues, eating disorders and addictions.
Person-centred counselling works with you at your own pace with the material you choose to bring to the sessions. Counselling can help you to gain access to your own inner resources and potential and to use these to shape your own life in a more positive way. I also have training in Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT).
I currently work in private practice. I am also a trained counselling supervisor.
