About Me

The reason for your decision to seek therapy at this point in your life may seem more or less clear to you. Perhaps something is wrong, and you seem to approach repetitive issues. Perhaps you follow other people's wishes and look at yourself through other people's eyes. It isn't easy to know your own identity and sense of self. Perhaps you struggle with thinking about your relationships, work, decisions, and life. To quote Marion Woodman: "There is no point talking about being true to yourself until you realise what voice you are being true to". Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy may bring you closer to what is true for you as an individual.

My particular interest in working as a psychotherapist stems from my varied experiences in the mental health field. Apart from working at my private practice, I am in an honorary contract with Strides Highbury Counselling Centre in London as a senior counsellor and assessment worker. I also volunteered as a therapist for the Psychosis Therapy Project, providing psychotherapy for service users who were diagnosed with psychosis. In the past, my work included supporting young people involved in gangs, adults who needed psychiatric hospitalisation, and domestic violence victims. I have also worked in management positions, including managing a unit for adults with autism. In addition to my work in mental health services, I was involved in a tech startup where I was in charge of recruitment and career training for young adults. This allowed me to combine my expertise in mental health with my passion for entrepreneurship and innovation.

As a psychotherapist, I provide a non-judgmental and compassionate therapeutic space. My approach to psychotherapy is grounded in psychoanalytic theories. Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy focuses on the unconscious. It is based on the belief that our early experiences, especially in childhood, shape our personality and behaviour in adulthood. As humans, we construct specific patterns of relating to the world and others. We developed these patterns through our earliest attachments, and as adults, we play out these templates or patterns that we acquired as children. Sometimes, these learned patterns work well, allowing the person to live a fulfilled life. However, in other cases, these patterns and repetitions may bring considerable difficulty. Sometimes, therapy focuses on recognising, understanding, and transforming, no longer serving patterns so that the person does not need to repeat what causes them to suffer. Instead, there is more freedom to consider your choices, identity, and place within society.

From my perspective, the patient and the therapist actively participate in the transformation process. As a therapist, I am not an authority figure. Instead, I provide you with the support and the space to figure things out in your own way.
