About Me

I first trained in pastoral care & listening skills, effectively an introduction to counselling, as a RAF instructor. After a further career in education, I chose to retrain and develop the 'supporting people' skillls I had used during this time.
My counselling has seen me gain experience working within an Hospice setting, working with clients facing life changing and life limiting illnesses,.  I still volunteer in this role but now also have an employed role working with different client groups outside the charity's core role.
I was able to develop my knowledge and understanding of wider counselling and psychotherapy theory and skills during a role as a training manager, designing and presenting courses for student counsellors . During this time I also managed a team providing single session 'walk-in' therapy and mental wellbeing support - this led to my interest in brief therapy.  I was to then study Single Session Therapy with a leading authority in this way of working.  I widened this study by completing Human Givens' Effective Brief Psychotherapy qualification.
I now combine all of these as a Person-centred Counsellor. Although this is my core approach I truly value my training in the more psychotherapeutic way of quickly alleviating the impact of trauma and abuse that my training in using Rewind Therapy, and more recently Flash technique, offers. I have also trained in the different skills that online and telephone counselling require.
My private practice is therefore based on my understanding and skills gained throughout my professional counselling experiences and ongoing professional development, which informs my work with individuals across a range of settings and personal issues. I am experienced in pre and post bereavement and working with both the person facing the life limiting or life changing medical condition and those supporting and caring for them.
I have successfully supported clients experiencing impacts of trauma including PTSD & C-PTSD; this includes survivors of domestic abuse/partner violence, terrorist incidents, accidents and traumatic bereavements. For this I use Rewind Therapy and Flash technique alongside my core person-centred approach in a very effective pluralistic approach.
As an Employee Assistance Program counsellor I am experienced in supporting individuals with issues related to difficulties such as stress, remote working, workplace dynamics and burnout etc.  This includes recovering from the depression and severe anxiety these issues can cause.
Although not generally working face to face at the moment, I am able to offer Walk n Talk therapy in the Lincoln area as lockdown saw me respond to the demand for a more nature-based and open way of working.  I therefore trained in Ecotherapy & Walk and Talk.  We can agree a suitable area within lincoln for this.
You can read more about the therapies I offer on www.lincspca.co.uk

I am an accredited member of the National Counselling Society (register no: NCS22-02406). I abide by their Ethical Framework and Codes of Conduct.
I hold malpractice, professional indemnity, public and products liability insurance with Holistic.
I have an enhanced DBS and am registered with the ICO.
