Millie Burton Integrative counsellor , SW4
I am a fully trained integrative counsellor and a registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP). I work with individual adults of all ages in weekly sessions on a long-term, open-ended or short-term basis.
Anxiety, indecision, critical thoughts and low moods can affect us all at different times, yet each of us has our own individual story that has led us to where we are now.
As a therapist, I don’t claim to know the answers and I am unlikely to give advice. Instead, I offer a non-judgemental space in which you and I can explore what may be blocking you from feeling more comfortable in yourself, your life and your relationships.
As an integrative counsellor I bring to my work an interest in attachment, child development and relational body psychotherapy. This means that I pay particular attention to early childhood experiences and relationship patterns, as well as our here-and-now experience, especially that which is most difficult to articulate. Most importantly, I listen and attend to what you bring to each session.
I have experience of working with relationship difficulties, depression, anxiety, chronic ambivalence and indecision, infertility, adoption and parenting.
I have worked in a play therapy setting with children at a South London primary school, and with adults at therapy services in Wandsworth and Queens Park.
As a client, it can feel daunting to meet a new or first therapist and it is important to find someone with whom you feel comfortable. The first session is a chance for us to get a sense of whether we can work together, and there is no obligation to continue if not. If you have any questions before our meeting please do get in touch.
