Are you experiencing heightened feelings of anxiety? Do you feel overwhelmed and think you would benefit from being able to talk in a safe and non-judgemental space?

Hello and a warm welcome to you. My name is Lizandra Leigertwood and my private practice is New Frame Therapy Counselling and Psychotherapy. I'm an experienced counsellor and psychotherapist based in St Albans, Hertfordshire.

Some of the areas I work with include:

- Depression

-Low confidence and self esteem

-Relationship Problems

-Couples Therapy

I have counselling premises in St Albans and Watford where I see individuals and couples for weekly counselling sessions.

I imagine you might have scrolled through a number of therapists' pages trying to find the right person to help you through this difficult time.

It's a courageous decision to seek help and my aim is to make finding the right therapist for you as simple and straight forward as possible. There are a lot of therapists out there, so it's really important that you find the best person that you feel comfortable with.

It can be difficult taking the first step toward change, but I am here to offer a safe non-judgemental environment to give you time and space to reflect on your experiences. I'm an integrative therapist, which means I value the individuality of each client, as a result I am able to use a number of approaches to find what might work best for you. This might mean offering you space to get some of your thoughts together to understand yourself better, or some practical help with coping with stress, anxiety, and improving your relationships.

I have worked for a number of charitable organisations and within the educational sector working with young people and adults from various cultures and backgrounds. my experience includes helping people living with self-harm, addictions, personality disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, depression and anxiety. In addition to my private practice I am a freelance counsellor at a Hertfordshire based counselling service where I continue my work with people who have experienced trauma and the after effects of sexual violence.

Why Counselling?

The counselling process can help with issues you are struggling with in the here and now as well as unresolved trauma and conflict from past experiences that continue to cause you difficulty. A proactive approach can be used to help with your presenting issues, such as generalised anxiety, or finding practical ways to cope with depression. However, to make effective and lasting change it is important to consider past experiences, identify past behaviours and to recognise recurring patterns. Gaining awareness of these external and internal conflicts facilitates long lasting change and the potential to grow.

Counselling can be life changing and empowering. You learn how to build resilience, you learn self compassion, your strengths, your weaknesses and a deeper understanding of what it is you want from life.

You do not have to be at the point of complete breakdown before you access counselling, often it is actually better to reach out for professional support before the point of crisis to help you on your journey to recovery.

If you are experiencing heightened feelings of anxiety, difficulties in your relationships or just feel that you are currently lacking direction or motivation, please get in touch to arrange a free fifteen minute initial consultation to see you counselling can help you. This also gives you the opportunity to find out if I am the right therapist for you and to ask me any questions you might have. I aim to respond to email enquiries within 24 hours. Appointments are usually offered within 7-10 days.

Please visit my website to find out more about how counselling might be able to help you and what you might expect from the counselling experience.
