Laura Martin
Gestalt psychotherapistAbout Me
I am a UKCP senior trainee Gestalt psychotherapist with regular supervision and support, offering affordable therapy to those who may otherwise find the cost a barrier to seeking support.
I work with you to support you to contact the painful feelings and experiences that may have been holding you back from enjoying your life. Only by fully exploring them can they move through you. It is hard work. But eventually you find your energy and vitality returning. You have the resources to better meet your needs.
Gestalt therapy is supportive for people going through serious difficulties, as well as those who are simply wanting more satisfaction and joy from life.
As a Gestalt therapist, I'm interested in you as a whole, your thoughts, feelings, experiences and the situations you find yourself in. Together we work to explore those parts of you that you are not so aware of. The feelings you are pushing away, your habitual ways of being in the world.
Gestalt therapy is founded on a trust that when we are able to more fully embrace and accept our experience, it changes. A relationship with someone who you feel seen and heard by is often vital in this process of learning to be with ourselves.
I am experienced in offering a caring, non-judgemental space for clients experiencing anxiety, depression, hopelessness, loneliness, difficulties with addictions, abusive relationships and low self-esteem. I have particular experience working with loss and bereavement, as I have seen clients at a bereavement centre for over almost three years. I firmly believe that even our most painful experiences become bearable when shared.
