John McKenzie
Hypnotherapy hypnotherapistAbout Me
Having spent 25 years working in the Department of Health and the NHS, I've spent the last 6 years working independently as a hypnotherapist, predominantly in the Cheshire area. This has included working with people to change and/or stop their habits, anxiety and phobias to name just a few. I use a variety of techniques including traditional hypnotherapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), neuro linguistic programming (NLP) and mindfulness.
I tailor all my treatments to the individual case, and use a combination of techniques to help you achieve the best possible result. Choosing the right therapist is an important decision, and it's vital that you feel comfortable with them. That's why I offer my "walk away and don't pay" guarantee - if you come to see me, and don't want to work with me for whatever reason, then you don't pay.
That guarantee also applies if I think that hypnotherapy isn't right for you for whatever reason. I don't ever charge people to find out they're comfortable with me, and if we don't work together I won't leave you stuck. I have a large network of other professionals that I can refer you to. After having taken the step of coming to see me I appreciate how disappointing it would be to feel back at square one.

I offer a free initial consultation with no obligation, so that you can decide if hypnotherapy is right for you. You can contact me through email on this site, or by calling me on 07713 564 245. You're in charge of the conversation, and I never keep your details to contact you unsolicited in the future.
Training and qualifications
I am a registered member of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH), I'm also recognised by and registered with the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CHNC). Membership of both of these is dependent on me completing regular continuing professional development, and maintaining and extending my skills.
Over the years I've helped people with a very wide range of problems, from tinnitus and ear-worms to shy bladders and urge incontinence. I've successfully treated people with skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis, and with sleep problems from insomnia to night-terrors. I've taught people to learn to manage their anxiety and to control their anger. I've helped smokers to stop , even those who've smoked 50 cigarettes a day or ones who started at nine years old.
Whether it's IBS or drinking too much, or misphonia or hyperhidrosis I'm often asked if I've treated that condition before. The fact is that, even when I have treated previous patients, each individual’s circumstances will still be unique to them. I offer a host of transferable skills and techniques to people, rather than to treating conditions.
