Jessica Goodman Integrative counsellor , EN5
We all experience difficulties at certain times in our lives, whether it’s facing up to loss, bereavement, life changes and challenges or a relationship breakdown. Or you realise you’re just not feeling ‘yourself’ and could be experiencing low mood, anxiety or depression. Perhaps life just isn’t shaping up in the way you’d planned. Counselling could be all you need to work through these difficult feelings and get you back on the right track.
As an Integrative therapist, I don't stick to one rigid approach, but work with you in the way I feel is best suited to you as an individual. But all my work is based around how we relate to each other and the world around us. I can help you to make sense of past and present challenges and to bring into focus a clearer sense of yourself. The aim is to have more understanding of yourself and therefore to feel stronger and more able to cope. I can work with difficulties including issues relating to :
• feeling sad
• life stage challenges
• relationship difficulties
• family issues
• low self-esteem
As well as working with adults, I work with students in a creative setting, and also with young adults in the LGBT+ community.
After you make contact we can set up a time for our initial 50 minute consultation where I can tell you more about how I work and discuss your goals for counselling, and answer any questions you might have. After this initial consultation, you can decide if you'd like us to continue working together and we'll set a regular time each week for our 50 minute sessions.
If you would like to make an appointment or have any questions you wish to discuss please contact me either by phone or email.
Training and qualifications
I completed my Diploma in Integrative Counselling at the Mary Ward Centre. The diploma is accredited by the BACP, whose ethical guidelines I continue to adhere to.
Before my counselling training, I worked in television production for 20 years. This gave me experience of working in high pressure creative environments where stress is rife and self esteem fragile. This has given me personal understanding of the difficulties which can arise in the workplace.
I currently work at the Terrence Higgins Trust as an online counsellor working with people affected by HIV, for Chai, a charity working with people affected by cancer from their head office and also in the community, and am also in private practice in High Barnet, seeing adults aged 18+. Previously, I worked at The Terrence Higgins Trust with young people aged 18-25 experiencing difficulties including anxiety, sexuality and isolation, and I spent a year at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama working with students, as well as Raphael a Jewish counselling service for adults.
I charge £60 for each 50 minute session which can be paid by bank transfer or in cash at the end of each session.
