Jennifer Garner
Integrative psychotherapistAbout Me
Hi, I am Jennifer, how are you doing?
Constantly busy mind? Often anxious or depressed? Overwhelmed? Feeling that you can’t cope or life feels out of control? At times we all face situations or challenges in life which we can find distressing, or that leaves us feeling unable to cope. It takes courage to make the decision to pause, breathe and talk. It takes courage to decide to do life differently.
Welcome to ‘your space’
Felling truly heard, and listened to can make the difference to help you explore what is happening for you right now, and to you getting to know and understand yourself to do things differently.
I am an integrative psychotherapist, which means I am trained in different modalities; who uses CBT, Psychodynamic, EMDR, Solution Focused therapy; Gestalt therapy, attachment theory and creative tools sandplay and Art therapy.
I have run my own private practice since 2012; and I have previously worked as a psychotherapist for: § The Priory;§ The NHS;§ The Probation Service;§ Drug and Alcohol Services;§ Primary and Secondary Schools.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). As a member of the BACP I adhere to the Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy. Being an integrative counsellor means I have a client-centred approach to counselling; providing an opportunity for clients to develop a ‘sense of self’, supporting you to recognise your own attitudes, feelings and behaviour; empowering you to find your own true positive ‘self’ and reach your full potential.
I do this by creating a safe, non-judgemental environment; communicating congruence (genuineness), empathy, and unconditional positive regard towards you. The non-directive approach I use enables you to find your own solutions to your problems and concerns.
Confidentiality: the therapeutic relationship is built on trust; and is the foundation of gaining your trust and facilitating the therapeutic collaborative relationship.
My own ongoing personal and professional development is important to me; and I am currently in the 2nd year of a DProf programme.
