Liz Jeffries Transactional analysis psychotherapist , M21
I provide psychotherapy in Face-to-Face (in-person) settings in Chorlton in South Manchester (on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Friday), as well as online (email, live chat and video therapy). Please note that while online therapy is listed as available on Wednesdays only, online therapy sessions may be booked on other days. Please contact me to check which times are available.
For Face-to-Face (in-person) therapy I can offer flexibility in terms of timings of appointments, so that you can fit your regular therapy appointments around your lifestyle. Appointments are available on weekdays during the daytimes, and on weekday evenings.
Currently I see individuals for either short-term therapy (therapy for an agreed time period) or in open-ended therapy, with the aim of enabling exploration and the working through of difficulties. Do you want relief from symptoms such as anxiety or depression? Do you want help working through relationship difficulties? Perhaps you want to explore a sense or repeating patterns in your life or life not feeling quite right? Psychotherapy can help with all of these kinds of difficulty.
I am trained in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy, and use a range of ideas from this model. These include ways of understanding how we become who we are, and how we grow and change during the life course. Transactional Analysis can also help in gaining relief from distressing symptoms such as anxiety and depression.
I also identify as being humanistic and relational in approach. What this means is that I locate the issue that you bring to therapy as a 'whole person experience'. affecting you in the here and now, as well as perhaps having origins in the past. It also means that the therapeutic relationship is seen as a significant agent and element for the therapy to be successful.
I have experience in working with people who have a range of problems or difficulty. These include anxiety, depression, relationship problems. stress, problems at work, abuse, self-harm and self-injury. bereavement and loss, sexuality and sexual identity, and migraine and chronic pain.
I currently work in private practice, and previously worked for a women's centre offering short-term therapy for eight sessions using the NHS Increasing Access to Psychological Therapy (IAPT) model.
Areas of Special Interest
I have a particular interest in symptoms such as anxiety and depression, and, how feeling separate (isolated or alone) or connected (in relationship influences these symptoms
I use the therapeutic relationship to explore patterns of relating and experiences of anxiety and depression.
