Christine AndersonIntegrative counsellor
I'm a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and I work from my consulting room in Palmers Green. I put the client-therapist relationship firmly at the centre of the therapy and it's important to me that you feel secure enough to experience the freedom of being able to open up and be who you really are in the counselling room. I aim to provide a warm and supportive environment where you can work at your own pace as we explore your difficulties and reconnect you to what it is you really want. In this way you begin to make better choices and move towards restoring balance to the way you relate to yourself and to others around you.
I use different psychotherapeutic approaches depending on the issues that each client brings, so each will have a uniquely tailored approach. Broadly speaking, I believe that our early relationships determine how we relate to the world in later life, so it's likely that together we will explore the past, particularly if it affects your ability to cope in the present. You may know that something needs to change, without being able to pinpoint what it is, or you may not believe that change is possible at all. Perhaps you know what needs to change in order to lead a more fulfilling life, and a shorter number of sessions can provide the impetus to move forwards. Although the past is important, I believe that we all have the capacity to make changes in the here and now, and that's what really matters.
I work with a diverse range of adults and I offer counselling for a broad range of difficulties. I also provide counselling for organisations and charities offering support to carers and to victims of domestic abuse. I have an additional interest in working with older adults. I have a background in Media and the Arts and experience of working for large organisations in these fields. I'm interested in the pressures of work that can lead to unhelpful and damaging coping strategies.

Training and qualifications
I hold a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling; courses that have been accredited by the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy, and as a registered member of the BACP I operate within their ethical framework. I'm committed to my own continuing professional development and I stay well informed of the latest developments within my field in order to enrich my practise. I also undertake regular supervision to ensure that I'm providing the best level of care to my clients, and I'm working towards accreditation with the BACP - this is a voluntary process which adds another level of competence and professionalism to my practise.
