About me
Hello - if you find yourself here I imagine that you are struggling with something in your life at the moment. Whether you are experiencing depression, anxiety, relationship, childhood or self esteem difficulties or just a sense of unease, I am an experienced, compassionate, fully qualified (masters level) and insured BACP accredited psychotherapist and counsellor with a profound understanding of human experience and suffering. BACP accreditation means my 'practice has met the higher standard as a competent, ethical and independent practitioner'. The therapeutic relationship is unlike any other. It is not the same as talking to a friend or even a GP. The process of sharing difficult experiences with a trained professional who is attuned to your unique history, relationships and needs can help make sense of struggles which might otherwise be confusing or overwhelming. This process can help to resolve specific difficulties as well as more intangible feelings that something just doesn't feel 'right'. I am an integrative therapist which means that I draw on a number of different approaches to support our work together based on your individual needs. I currently work as a (PCE-CfD) Counselling for Depression therapist in the NHS but I also see clients privately. I offer individual, weekly or fortnightly therapy to people over 18 years old. I understand how difficult it is to find the right therapist. I have worked with young people between 16 - 25 in the charitable sector and older adults in residential care. I am accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and am a member of the British Psychological Society. I am also a member of the British Psychological Society's Media Ethics Advisory Group advocating good practice in television and radio. Prior to retraining, I was a BBC programme-maker specialising in child and adolescent psychology and contributor care so have significant experience of workplace and work/life issues. I am also a former palliative carer and Samaritan volunteer. I trained for over seven years at leading universities in the field and was awarded a master's degree with Distinction in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy as well as a First-Class degree in Applied Psychology and continue to undertake CPD. I am currently working via Zoom or telephone which gives more flexibility for appointments so if you are looking for compassionate short or long-term therapy then please do email me to discuss our next steps.
