What makes Welldoing different from other digital platforms

In the fast-moving digital world, how clients find therapists and therapists find clients is changing. As a digital platform Welldoing supports the use of technology to make both processes easier. However, we encourage all potential therapy and counselling clients to be aware of best practice on therapy platforms, to ensure that any therapist you contact is a member of a respected professional association, insured and well-trained.

Below are Welldoing’s charters for clients and therapists.

The Welldoing charter for therapists and counsellors

What to look for when you join a digital therapy platform:

  • regular verification by a well-respected professional body is a condition of membership
  • expects your training to have included face-to-face contact hours and supervised placements
  • values your years of training and experience and treats you as a professional
  • allows you to charge a fair price for your work
  • ensures the transactional agreement is fair to both sides
  • understands that you are required to adhere to therapeutic standards concerning risk and safeguarding
  • expects you to engage in regular continuing professional development, and supervision
  • is compliant with GDPR UK regulations, to keep clients’ sensitive data secure
  • allows you to choose how you see clients, online or face to face
  • allows you to end the therapeutic relationship if necessary

The Welldoing charter for clients

What to look for when searching for a therapist on a digital platform:

  • any platform should be transparent about how it works
  • it should be compliant with GDPR UK regulations, to keep your sensitive data secure
  • all practitioners should be verified as members of a reputable professional association. This should be clearly shown and kept up to date
  • your initial session should include option on either side to not go forward with treatment
  • therapists are professionally trained, over a number of years, and their payment should be fair
  • therapists’ workloads should be proportionate for the welfare of both client and therapist
  • therapists should adhere to an ethical code/framework and this should be made clear to clients before agreeing to work together
  • any platform should be open and able to support you with complaints, and direct you to a therapist's professional association

We have created these two charters to help both therapists and clients. Do let us know if you have comments or want clarifications about our mission, or how we work. You can contact us on [email protected].
