About me
I offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgemental approach to counselling, providing a safe and confidential space where you can talk openly and honestly, at your own pace. I believe that every person is unique, and therefore therapy should never be a ‘one size fits all’ approach. I work collaboratively with my clients, adapting the way I work to suit the individual, their circumstances and what they hope to gain from counselling. I have experience of working with adults, children and young people across a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, domestic abuse, relationship and family difficulties, low self-esteem, bereavement and loss, emotional regulation, childhood adversity and difficult or traumatic life experiences. I also have experience of working with children and young people who may find it difficult to express or understand their emotions, including those who have experienced significant changes, disrupted relationships, family difficulties or trauma. My approach is supportive and compassionate, but I also believe that counselling can gently challenge established patterns of thinking and behaviour when appropriate. I aim to help clients develop a greater understanding of themselves, their emotions and their experiences, while supporting them to identify their own strengths and find ways of moving forward. Above all, I believe that the relationship between counsellor and client is at the heart of effective therapy. Building trust takes time, and I work hard to create an environment in which clients feel genuinely heard, respected and accepted.
