About me
I’m Leah, a warm and down-to-earth counsellor with experience supporting people with a wide range of difficulties, with particular experience around traumatic or difficult life experiences, neurodivergence and more complex or longstanding emotional and relationship difficulties. I also work with anxiety, low self-esteem, overwhelm, relationship difficulties, loss, identity, emotional regulation and the impact of difficult experiences from earlier in life. You may not have a name for what you’re experiencing at all. You might simply know that you feel stuck, that the same patterns keep repeating, or that life feels harder than you think it should. Sometimes, what we’re struggling with in the present can be connected to patterns we learned much earlier in life, ways of thinking, coping or relating to others that may once have helped us, but no longer serve us in the same way. Part of our work together can be gently making sense of those patterns, understanding where they came from and exploring what you might want to do differently as you move forward. I offer a supportive, non-judgemental space where we can explore what’s happening, understand the experiences that have shaped you and begin to reshape the path ahead in a way that feels right for you. For me, counselling is about feeling genuinely heard and understood, while developing a kinder and more accepting relationship with yourself.

Training and qualifications
My core training is Psychodynamic Counselling, which is about understanding how our early experiences, relationships and unconscious patterns can influence the way we experience ourselves and others in the present. I am currently undertaking an Advanced Diploma in Transactional Analysis (TA), further developing my practice and working towards UKCP accreditation. This training deepens my understanding of personality, relationships and the patterns we can find ourselves repeating throughout our lives. Alongside my core training, I am committed to continuing professional development and have undertaken additional training in areas including autism in girls and women, couples therapy, safeguarding through the NSPCC, and working therapeutically online and by telephone. Alongside my private practice, I work across other counselling settings, including as a relationship counsellor and as a volunteer counsellor. Within my voluntary role, I also mentor trainee counsellors, supporting them as they develop their skills and confidence in practice. Working across these different settings has given me experience with a broad range of clients, relationships and presenting difficulties, and I continue to develop my knowledge and practice through ongoing training and professional development.
