About me
I am Dr John Lambie—a qualified CBT therapist, and over the past 14 years I have worked as therapist, both in a hospital setting and in private practice. I offer evidence-based treatment for depression, anxiety, OCD, panic, health anxiety, phobias, loss of motivation, relationship problems, agoraphobia, eating disorders, and other conditions. My style of therapy is warm, structured and collaborative. My aim is to ease suffering—you can get relief!—I would like to help you get to grips with painful feelings and overcome them. Most psychological problems are patterns that many of us can easily slip into at certain points in our lives, but there are ways out, and I am passionate about sharing my knowledge and empathy to help people find these ways out. I have a PhD in Psychology from Cambridge University, and also worked for 30 years as University researcher and lecturer, and have published many academic papers on emotion and emotion regulation. I have successfully treated people of all ages from teenagers and young adults, to middle-aged and older people. I offer standard Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, but this is also informed by Compassion-Focused Therapy, Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive-Analytic Therapy approaches. I offer a free 20 minute video call for us to see if I am the right therapist for you. I hope you find what you need and are looking for, and would be happy to see if I can help you achieve this. Some examples of testimonials from my clients: Male—30s “I’ve had chronic anxiety and worry for most of my life. I’ve tried many treatments and nothing worked. CBT with John really helped me and for the first time I felt some relief – the self-compassion techniques I learned helped me too. John’s warmth and kindness as a therapist really shines through”. Female—50s “I really want to thank you. When I came to therapy I felt completely lost and overwhelmed, and taken for granted, and was very low. The CBT helped me regain my sense of who I am and recover some of my joy.” Male—early 20s “I was having panic attacks and health anxiety, and these issues massively reduced after therapy. I moved to a new city to start a new job, and I couldn’t have done that without the CBT with John”.
