About me

I am interested in working with people from all walks of life, with a particular interest in topics that are still considered taboo in society. I am currently undertaking a psycho-sexual therapy diploma. I support clients to find their own voice & way in life. As human beings, we feel a lot of different emotions, & yet, they seem so rarely identified as a good thing. I don’t believe in bad or negative emotions. Each one is valid & trying to show us something about ourselves. I believe we can cope more effectively with our feelings when we develop a more helpful relationship with them. I work in a broad way. I believe humour is essential in therapy & is often the thing that keeps us going through the darkness. I provide a safe space, in a non-judgemental environment, where people have the freedom to explore themselves. I am warm and I work at my client's pace in a gentle yet challenging manner. I am an integrative counsellor and use a variety of theoretical models. This collaborative approach enables me to work in a way that suits each individual client. I have a lot of experience of working with traumatised clients in deep distress. This is mostly sexual violence that has been experienced by a client at any time in their life. It is never too late to work through trauma & find yourself again. I work with many other issues, including, shame, anger, anxiety, depression, trauma, dissociation and low self-esteem. After experiencing trauma, you may feel very alone, misunderstood, & isolated from loved ones. I often describe trauma as similar to being in the thick of a fog that only you can see. If people around you don't see the fog, or what you are going through, it can feel scary. I will be able to see you & hear you. We can work our way through the fog together. It is often difficult to imagine life after trauma, however, I have seen the evidence countless times after over 15 years of practice. A lot of clients worry that they will have to speak about their traumatic experience but that is not necessary to see lasting change. We will work safely & begin with where you are at right now. We look at your world & the obstacles you face. My clients often find themselves again & bring their spark back to life. I am an accredited member of The National Counselling & Psychotherapy Society (NCPS). I am a qualified supervisor and trained in The Hawkins and Shohet 7 Eyed Model of Supervision. I'm very understanding, empathic, and maintain confidentiality. I realise it is difficult for people to open up but I believe counselling can make a difference. I recognise the importance of finding the right counsellor that best suits your needs and that is why our initial meeting, lasting around 20 to 40 minutes, will be free of charge. I welcome people from all walks of life.
