About me
With over ten years of experience as a counselor, I have learned that counseling works best when the person feels that they can say the unsayable. Crucially, I don't tell people what to do, or even what they need to do. I believe that no-one knows the individual better than that individual themselves and the best thing I can offer is attentive listening and the ability to reflect experiences accurately and clearly, offering the perspective that might be hard to attain when you're in the middle of a situation. My professional experience has taught when it works well counseling provides a way for a person to understand themselves and their situation better, and through that equip them to make clearer decisions and embrace change. If all this sounds a little lofty, then rest assured that in person I am very down to earth. Entering into counseling for the first time is nerve-wracking enough without worrying about someone talking abstract psycho babble.
