About me
People mostly begin therapy when they feel that change is necessary in their life. You might not have all the answers or understand what you need, and that is okay. Whatever your thoughts are right now, I imagine you are hoping for something to be different. Or perhaps you simply want a space to talk and feel heard. Therapy is a personal journey, and will be different for everyone. My work style is unique to each person, and is tailored to meet your hopes and expectations. I am an Integrative Relational, and Relationship Therapist. This simply means that I work with individuals, couples, and family members to improve and strengthen communication, emotional connection, and understanding of yourself and others. Integrative means that I will use a range of theoretical modalities to explore and understand your life, with a focus on building and maintaining relationships, rupture and repair, grief and loss. Therapeutic techniques and interventions are developed from Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Theory, Family Systemic Therapy, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. We hold relationships in everything that we do, personal, intimate, family, friends, healthcare, workplace, and so on. Why is it important to explore relationships? Our personal, professional, and social interactions are at the very heart of our core thoughts and feelings, and strongly impact our behaviour with ourself and others. We often neglect the most important relationship in our life...The relationship with ourself. When was the last time you thought about self-care? What does self-care look like for you? A stronger connection with yourself can enhance your experience with others, offering different perspectives of experiences with them. Our work together can support you to explore and develop an understanding of your experiences. Therapy can help you learn the skills necessary for navigating the things that impact your life. This might look or feel like, increased stress, emotional discomfort, relationship problems, childhood trauma, family estrangement, or chronic health issues such as fatigue, pain or disability. You might recognise these issues being addressed as attachment styles / disorder, trauma, complex PTSD, grief, anxiety, depression, and chronic pain like fibromyalgia and arthritis. Therapy can be a structured approach with 8-10 sessions, or can be open-ended with a focus on longer-term therapy. Again, therapy is different for everyone, and I endeavour to provide a unique experience, tailored to individual circumstances. If you think you might benefit from speaking with me, please make contact, and we can start a conversation.
