About me

I believe the most important thing in counselling is the relationship between us. Whatever has brought you here, my hope is that you will feel genuinely listened to and accepted, without being judged or made to feel that there is something wrong with you for what you are feeling. Many people arrive worried that some part of their experience is too strange, too much, or too difficult to say out loud. A large part of my work is creating the kind of safety where those things can be brought into the open and understood. I am an integrative counsellor, which means I draw on more than one way of working and adapt to what suits you. My practice is rooted in Person-Centred Therapy and Transactional Analysis, and I work at relational depth, paying close attention to the patterns we carry from earlier relationships and how they show up in the present. I am attachment-informed, and I bring a calm, grounded presence to our sessions that comes in part from my own long-standing meditation practice. I am also comfortable exploring questions of meaning, spirituality or faith where these matter to you, without ever imposing my own views. I work with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, low self-worth, bereavement and loss, relationship difficulties, questions of identity and self-acceptance, life transitions, and the strain of financial or systemic pressures. Through six years as a teacher, four of them in specialist settings supporting young people with complex needs, I have developed a particular understanding of neurodivergence. I have experience working with autistic and ADHD clients, and I adapt how I work so that therapy fits the person in front of me rather than the other way around. Having come to the UK from Iraqi Kurdistan as a child, I also understand something of what it is to move between cultures and to find your place between different worlds. I am bilingual in English and Kurdish, and I am committed to making counselling feel accessible to people who do not always see themselves reflected in it. If anything here resonates with you, I would warmly welcome you getting in touch. Taking the first step can be the hardest part, and there is no pressure to have the right words ready. We can take things at your pace.
