About me

My practice is built on the belief that people’s traumatic past experiences do not have to define who they are or limit what they can become. I believe that everyone should have the opportunity to reach their full potential and healing from past trauma can give you that opportunity. I am here to provide the support needed to help clients to either accept or change parts of themselves that they might not be comfortable with. I am committed to providing compassionate, confidential, and trauma informed support to individuals seeking to heal from their past experiences. In my private counselling practice, I create a safe, non-judgmental space where clients can explore their thoughts, feelings, and life challenges. My goal is to empower clients to better understand and accept themselves, then to move towards healing. My approach is fundamentally person centred which encompasses empathy, active listening, and a deep respect for each person's particular lived experience. I also offer inner child therapy. My way of working is essentially trauma-informed which means that I understand the long lasting and negative impact that trauma can have on people’s physical, emotional and social development. With this in mind, I work compassionately, in a way that prevents further trauma and supports healing. I believe that therapy is a partnership, where trust and openness are fundamental for meaningful progress. As a counsellor, I am dedicated to fostering a warm, supportive environment that allows clients to always feel heard and valued.

Training and qualifications

I am a fully qualified, experienced counsellor with over eight years’ experience working for a rape crisis centre. I have supported women who have experienced trauma specifically related to historic rape and sexual abuse. Before that I worked with unpaid carers who looked after their ailing family members. I also recently qualified as a counselling supervisor and can offer individual as well as group supervision. I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapy (BACP). I keep up to date with the latest research to continually expand my knowledge, maintaining the high standards of my service.
