Jane Haynes worked as an actor at the Royal Court Theatre until reading The Divided Self when she decided to work with R.D. Laing. She trained as a Jungian psychoanalyst at the Society of Analytical Psychology. She no longer works as a psychoanalyst but regards her clinical work to revolve around relationship and dialogue. Jane visited St Petersburg for over ten years after Perestroika as a consultant to the Eastern European Institute for Psychoanalysis where she contributed to developing their curriculum and became familiar with different cultural approaches to psychotherapy. She has published several books and articles including Who is it that can tell me who I am- With an introduction by Hilary Mantel, which was shortlisted for the PEN Memoir Prize.
