Therapist in Private Practice? Learn How to Market Yourself in a Way that Embraces Who You Are

Therapist in Private Practice? Learn How to Market Yourself in a Way that Embraces Who You Are

Aug 29, 2025

    • Want to know how to market yourself in a way that feels aligned to who you are?
    • Creativity coach and mentor Tara Jackson is launching a series of creative business workshops for Welldoing therapists

For so many sole traders, entrepreneurs, healers, and creatives, visibility can feel like a performance. The online world tells us we have to be louder. More polished. More consistent. More marketable. As a therapist in private practice, there's a demand on you to stand out from the crowd, but it might not come naturally.

So, what happens? We learn to package ourselves. To tone down our edges. To shrink certain parts while amplifying others. All in the name of being seen, being heard, and being chosen.

But what if that was never meant to be your path?

If you’re someone who feels most alive when you’re creating, whether it’s art, relationships, energy, ideas, or offerings, traditional visibility strategies often feel off

It’s not that you’re scared of being seen. It’s that the way visibility is usually taught doesn’t match the way you’re designed. Performing feels exhausting. Following formulas flattens your frequency. Pretending to be more digestible dulls your essence.

You find yourself stuck between: Hiding and protecting your truth, but feeling invisible. Showing up in ways that don’t feel authentic, but losing yourself in the process.

Neither path leads where you truly want to go.

There is another way.

Visibility doesn’t have to be about performance. It doesn’t have to be about fixing yourself, shrinking, or amplifying certain parts for the algorithm.

It can be an extension of your creativity. A transmission of your essence. A living, breathing embodiment of your voice, your truth, and your energy.

When your visibility comes from this place, it stops being about “getting attention” and starts becoming about resonance.

The right people: clients, collaborators, communities will feel you.

I'm thrilled to be running a series of creative business workshops for Welldoing therapists starting in September. Here's a short video introduction to the course:

If you're a Welldoing member, you can sign up here.

In the meantime, here are a few ways you can begin to re-claim aspects of your creative visibility.

Claim your creative roots

Your creative voice didn’t arrive by accident. It’s shaped by the stories you’ve lived, the cultures you carry, the magic you were born with, and the moments that shaped your expression. The threads of your ancestry, your lived experience, your soul’s remembering: all of it informs the unique way you create, speak, and share. When you honour where you’ve come from, your work carries a depth and richness that no strategy can replicate.

Claim your shadows

The pieces you were told were too much, too sensitive, too intense, too different, are often the exact ones that hold your deepest creative power. The parts you learned to hide or silenced to stay safe are the same parts that now hold the keys to your resonance, originality, and truth. When those pieces are reclaimed, your presence becomes magnetic to those who are aligned with it.

Claim your magic

Your magic lives in the unseen, in the intuitive sparks, the quiet whispers, the way you dream, sense, and move through the world. Maybe you speak with energies, receive visions in stillness, or create from realms beyond logic. This is not separate from your work; it is your work. When your magic becomes visible, everything begins to align, from your message to your clients, to the way you lead.

Claim your embodiment

Creativity lives in the body: in breath, movement, and sensation. It’s the pulse in your hips, the vibration in your chest, the way your voice changes when you speak from truth rather than performance. When your creativity flows through your body, your visibility becomes something felt, not just seen.

Claim your voice

Your voice carries more than words, it carries your essence. The sound of your voice, the rhythm of your writing, the tone in your presence, all of it transmits something unmistakably yours: the clear, alive expression of who you are.

Claim your frequency

Your frequency is the energetic signature of your work. The invisible but palpable feeling that surrounds everything you create. It’s how people experience you, whether they read your words, hear your voice, or sit in your presence. When you honour your frequency your visibility becomes an effortless transmission, which will resonate with the people meant for you.

Claim your vision

Your vision is more than a plan. It’s a living, breathing future that you are here to midwife into form. It is the heartbeat of your work, guiding every word, offering, and creation. It’s the change you’re here to embody, the ripple you’re here to create, and the legacy that moves through you. When your vision is fully owned, your leadership becomes inevitable.

The truth is: hiding is exhausting.

And in a world craving realness, resonance, and embodiment, your voice exactly as it is, is medicine. The leaders of this next era are not performers. They are creators. Here to lead with soul, not scripts. With frequency, not performance.

And the more you reclaim your full-spectrum self: shadows, magic, voice, and vision, the more magnetic your presence becomes.

An invitation to go deeper: Workshop schedule

If this resonates, I’ve created an exclusive experience for Welldoing therapists to help you explore these themes more deeply.

  • Connect to your embodied wisdom

Use guided visualisations to tune into specific body parts (e.g. your throat or hips) to deepen your relationship with your body and its wisdom. This is the foundation for embodied business.

  • Connect to your unique essence
Drop into the truth of who you are: your natural qualities, your lived experience, your presence, and explore how this essence can shape how you show up in your business.

  • Connect to the essence of your business
Tune into your business as an energy with its own identity, rhythm, and message. From this connection, explore how it wants to grow, evolve, or speak.
    • Use this intuitive knowing to guide your messaging, planning, and aligned business decisions.

  • Transmute resistance around visibility
Explore what’s coming up around being seen: fear, resistance, perfectionism, contraction, and work with it creatively.
    • Use visualisation, writing, or expressive art to meet and shift these blocks, making visibility feel more embodied and safe.

  • Creative Cycles

Align your work with your natural energy rhythms. Whether seasonal, hormonal, lunar, or intuitive, this workshop invites you to map your own creative cycle and use it to support how and when you show up, rest, and create in your business.

  • Embodied writing

Connect to the soul of your writing, alongside the wisdom of your body, allowing it to lead and support you with your writing. Whether it’s a book, content, or something else you are writing, an embodied approach can bring in more flow and ease to your writing process.

I'll look forward to meeting you!
