How Embodiment Changes the Way You Write, and the Way You Run Your Business

Writing has changed me.

Over the years, through five books, countless articles, and many half-formed pieces that never saw the light of day, I’ve discovered that writing itself is an initiation. Each piece becomes its own conversation with my body, my energy, and the creative essence moving through me.

Every time I write, I’m asked to meet myself more fully, to listen more deeply, and to trust the invisible threads that connect what I feel inside to what eventually lands on the page.

Sometimes the words arrive fully formed. Other times, they begin as a colour, an energy I feel, or a sensation that lingers in my body until it’s ready to become language. Always, I’m called to embody the words on a deeper level, often one that doesn’t make logical sense at first, but that draws me closer to who I truly am.

With every project, I’ve realised that writing isn’t simply about arranging thoughts. It’s about attuning to a current that already exists. The creative energy is alive. It moves through you, shaping you as much as you shape it.

This is embodied writing. Writing as a living dialogue between body, earth, and spirit.

It’s an intuitive, cyclical, creative process that honours the intelligence of your body and the natural rhythms of your energy. Some days you’ll be blooming with ideas; other days, you’ll be asked to rest, to compost, to trust that what’s unseen is still forming beneath the surface.

If you’ve ever felt that your writing has its own heartbeat, or that you’re being written as much as you’re writing, then embodied writing is for you.

1. Listen to the wisdom of the body

Your body holds vast creative intelligence. Each part of it: your heart, your belly, your throat, your hands, carries its own form of wisdom. When you learn to listen, your writing becomes fuller and more honest.

Try noticing where in your body your ideas live. Maybe your next piece feels like a story bubbling in your chest, an energy that’s tingling in your fingers, or a thread that just won’t leave you alone in your sacral space. Let that sensation guide how and what you write.

This is how the body speaks. Through rhythm, sensation, and movement. 

2. Caring for the body as a creative vessel

Embodiment is not only about listening to your body’s wisdom, it’s about tending to it, also. Your creative energy can only flow through a system that feels safe, nourished, and supported.

Rest is part of the process. So is stillness, nourishment, movement, and pleasure. When you honour what your body needs on any given day, whether that’s a walk outside in nature, a long bath, or a nap instead of pushing through, trying to write, you keep your creative channel open.

Your writing will reflect your state of being.

3. Becoming who your writing is calling you to be

Every creative project calls you to become someone new. The process of embodiment is also a process of becoming, of stepping into the frequency and identity of the person who can bring this particular piece of writing to life.

Sometimes that means growing in confidence, or deepening your trust. Sometimes it means healing something within yourself so that you can write from a more integrated place.

As you write, you might ask yourself: Who am I being invited to become through this writing?

Let the answer unfold over time. It’s in the becoming that your voice matures and your message deepens.

Writing from the body changes everything. It softens the pressure, expands what’s possible, and allows your creativity to flow from a place that feels grounded, alive, and true.
