William Leifer
Integrative psychotherapistAbout Me
I am an integrative therapist able to use a range of therapeutic interventions drawn from the humanistic, psychoanalytic and CBT traditions. This means I draw on the interventions that I think will be most helpful for each client that I see.
Sometimes I help people to look at the relationship between their current troubles and their past experience in order to gain insight into and overcome unhelpful emotional patterns they have developed.
Sometimes I work mostly in the present moment, helping people to delve deeply into their feelings right now about themselves and others in order to find more fulfilling ways of living. Usually, the sessions will revolve around my client talking about the problems that are most urgent to them, but if it seems useful, we may work together in other ways too. For example, we may use mindfulness, or explore dreams.
If you are thinking of working with me, you should know that my goal would be to welcome the whole of you - even the bits you are frightened or ashamed of - into the therapy room, so that these parts of yourself can be explored in a safe space.
We would take this work at a pace that was comfortable for you. Exploring these areas is never easy; but my experience is that greater confidence and vitality result - and new ways forward in life can be discovered that were previously unimaginable.
